Pacific Pride Foundation's advocacy and education efforts meet the ongoing and emerging needs of a diverse population in order to create a thriving and visible LGBTQ+ community and to prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS. The Syringe Exchange Program offers sterile syringes and other supplies, as well as harm reduction counseling. We provide Syringe Exchange as a means of prevention. One proven method of preventing the spread of HIV & Hep C is to offer injection drug users harm reduction counseling and syringe exchange—as exposure to both HIV and Hep C can occur from sharing unsterilized needles. Pacific Pride Foundation offers harm reduction, risk assessment, sterile syringes and various other supplies and materials to help reduce the spread of blood born pathogens and support those who may be struggling with substance dependency. Through a partnership with the Department of Behavioral Wellness we provide overdose prevention education and distribute Naloxone, a medication designed to rapidly reverse opioid overdose.
