Overview

The San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System Harm Reduction and Syringe Services Program offers services to United States Veterans at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center and community-based outpatient clinics located in downtown San Francisco, Oakland, San Bruno, Santa Rosa, Ukiah, Clearlake, and Eureka. 

Our clinical pharmacist practitioner-led program aims to end drug-related stigma and discrimination in healthcare, prevent the spread of drug-related infections and overdose deaths, and increase connections to services.

We offer harm reduction education and supplies through: 

-Free harm reduction supplies available via 15 vending machines (2 in the main medical center, 7 in outpatient clinics, and 6 in Veterans housing facilities)

-Clinician and veteran self-referrals

-Virtual and in-person outreach

-Prescription harm reduction supplies, including free naloxone kits

-Mail-based and in-clinic distribution
