Family Centers is a private, nonprofit organization offering education, health and human services to children, adults and families in Fairfield County. More than 225 professionals and hundreds of trained volunteers work together to provide our communities with a wide range of responsive and innovative services. Their multifaceted network of health, education and human service programs give individuals and families the tools needed to establish a strong educational foundation, overcome complex and critical problems, carry on healthy productive lives and achieve personal improvement. Stamford CARES a program of Family Centers, Inc., is a community based program and licensed mental health agency that was established in 1986 in response to the complex needs of people living with HIV/AIDS, and operates as the coordinating program of HIV care in Stamford. Stamford CARES provides Medical Case Management, mental health services, medical transportation, emergency financial assistance, food, oral health, health insurance assistance and housing assistance to persons living with and affected by HIV/AIDS in the Stamford region.. Stamford CARES provides free, rapid HIV and Hepatitis C testing. Tests are available by walk in, appointment, and at various locations throughout Stamford. Stamford CARES also manages a Drug User Health program including a Syringe Service Program. Stamford CARES also provides PrEP screening and navigation services.
