Whitley County Syringe Exchange

The Whitley County Health Department offers a Needle Exchange Program. The goal of the program is to reduce transmission of blood-borne diseases including HIV and Hepatitis C among person who inject drugs and to protect their sexual partners. The program provides sterile syringes in exchange for dirty syringes that are safely disposed of. Testing for HIV and other blood-borne pathogens are available as well as educating on syringe disposal, safe injection and overdose prevention. If needed, referrals can be made to link participants to drug treatment services. All services are provided on a confidential and anonymous basis.
